How do I set up my UpCanary account?
Create your account, set up your team, and configure your workspace.
This guide walks you through creating your UpCanary account, setting up a team, and getting your workspace ready for monitoring.
Registration
Go to app.upcanary.io and choose how to create your account:
Email and Password Enter your email address and choose a password. You’ll receive a confirmation email - click the link to verify your address before signing in.
OAuth (Google or GitHub) Click Continue with Google or Continue with GitHub to sign up in one step. No separate password is needed; your Google or GitHub identity is used to authenticate.
Once your account is active, you receive 100,000 free credits automatically - no credit card required.
Creating a Team
When you first sign in, UpCanary prompts you to create a team. Teams are the workspace that holds all your monitors, status pages, and notification settings.
- Enter a team name - this can be your company name, project name, or anything descriptive.
- Click Create Team.
You are automatically assigned the Owner role for the team you create.
If someone has already invited you to an existing team, you can join that team instead of creating a new one. Check your email for the invitation link.
Inviting Team Members
To add colleagues to your team:
- Go to Settings > Team Members in the sidebar.
- Click Invite Member.
- Enter the person’s email address.
- Choose their role:
- Admin - can manage monitors, status pages, and team settings
- Member - can create and edit monitors and status pages
- Viewer - read-only access
- Click Send Invite.
The invitee receives an email with a link to join. If they don’t have an UpCanary account yet, they’ll be prompted to create one.
See Team Members for a full breakdown of what each role can do.
Profile Settings
To update your personal profile:
- Display name - shown in team activity logs and notification emails
- Email address - used for login and receiving alert notifications
- Password - change your password from the Account settings page
- Connected accounts - if you signed up with email, you can link your Google or GitHub account for faster sign-in in the future
Profile settings are separate from team settings. Your profile applies across all teams you belong to.
Next Steps
With your account and team set up, you’re ready to start monitoring:
- Create your first monitor - takes about 2 minutes
- Understand key concepts - learn about monitors, credits, and regions
- Set up notifications - configure where alerts are sent
